Flower Farming is a rewarding yet challenging industry.
Your Flower Farm is different to other small businesses.
You are responsible for producing a seasonal, perishable product that is beautiful to your customers not just selling
The skills that you need range from horticulture and agronomy to business marketing and management.
Receiving mentoring as a Flower Farmer is invaluable because it provides personalised guidance, support and expertise to navigate the complexities of our industry.
Flower Farming is Flipping Hard Work!
It is easy to grow a few annual flowers and Dahlia to cut in July and August. However this is unlikely to be a model that builds a sustainable business.
To create an income doing something that you love for a long season, year in, year out and not burnout, you need to understand:
What each season has to offer
How to get the best out of each flower for each customer
How to set up a farm that works for you
How to keep records that will help you to grow in the future
How to market yourself, your business and your flowers
How to price your flowers
How to value the work that you do and build respectful relationships with your customers.
How to have something to offer next year, when you are in the midst of this year
